The pipers were piping and the dancers were dancing at the Larchmont Shore Club on Saturday night as the Sound Shore St. Patrick’s Day Parade Committee presented the ceremonial sash to the 2018 parade Grand Marshal, Raymond “Doc” Kiernan, along the official charge to lead the 7th Annual Sound Shore St. Patrick’s Day Parade on March 18.
The Shamrocks and Hearts Dinner MC duties were deftly handled by newly elected Westchester County Executive George Latimer of Rye, very longtime Sound Shore parade supporter, presenting proclamations to Doc Kiernan on behalf of the Town of Mamaroneck and Town Supervisor Nancy Seligson and New York State Assemblyman, Steven Otis. The County Executive appropriately proclaimed Feb. 17 Raymond ‘Doc” Kiernan Day in Westchester County."
“Having served his country and his community for many years, Doc Kiernan embodies the life and sacrifice of the our community first-responders, as well as our Irish heritage and the American immigrant experience.” said committee President Laura Murphy. “We are honored to have Doc as our Grand Marshal. This is sure to be the best Sound Shore Parade yet!”
For his choice as “Aides to the Grand Marshal." Kiernan chose his wife, Sue, and their three children, Dennis, Shea and Rory.
